Tipton High School held their National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on April 30th in the High School Auditorium. It was one that advisor Aly Fish described as “bittersweet”. The ceremony welcomes the wonderful new members into the chapter but it is also a chance to hear the amazing things the senior members have done and to wish them well in all future endeavors.
The chapter invited Chelsey (Larson) Miller, a 2006 Tipton graduate who moved back with her family a few years ago as the guest speaker for the afternoon. Miller recalled many fond memories from these halls, thanking staff members who were in attendance who helped instill her love for learning, love for science, and creating a place she is proud to come back to. She continued by talking about the importance of the pillars of National Honor Society, Service, Scholarship, Leadership and Character and how those play such an important role in the rest of your life. She summarized these by emphasizing “doing your best and being a good human”. Saying all the other pieces will fall into place if you can always ensure you are doing your best and being a good human.
New members were sworn in and each invited a teacher or mentor who have had an impact on them and shared why. They also shared some goals for their time in NHS, many included growing stronger in leadership skills and working closer in their community.
What a joy it will be to see these students continue to grow and shine. Congratulations!
