Tipton High School held their National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on April 30th in the High School Auditorium. It was one that advisor Aly Fish described as “bittersweet”. The ceremony welcomes the wonderful new members into the chapter but it is also a chance to hear the amazing things the senior members have done and to wish them well in all future endeavors. The chapter invited Chelsey (Larson) Miller, a 2006 Tipton graduate who moved back with her family a few years ago as the guest speaker for the afternoon. Miller recalled many fond memories from these halls, thanking staff members who were in attendance who helped instill her love for learning, love for science, and creating a place she is proud to come back to. She continued by talking about the importance of the pillars of National Honor Society, Service, Scholarship, Leadership and Character and how those play such an important role in the rest of your life. She summarized these by emphasizing “doing your best and being a good human”. Saying all the other pieces will fall into place if you can always ensure you are doing your best and being a good human. New members were sworn in and each invited a teacher or mentor who have had an impact on them and shared why. They also shared some goals for their time in NHS, many included growing stronger in leadership skills and working closer in their community. What a joy it will be to see these students continue to grow and shine. Congratulations!

Mrs. Gerken's Kindergarteners and Mrs. Foss's 6th graders have been collaborating all year long on writing. The 6th graders have consistently supported the kindergarteners through the writing process. Today, the kindergarteners had the pleasure of reading their published stories to their 6th-grade buddies. What a fun partnership!

Today Tipton 7th graders got a taste of Real Money Real World thanks to a program sponsored by Fidelity Bank and delivered by Cedar County Extension. Students were put in real life scenarios and learned how to manage their money while covering all of their expenses. It was a HIT, most students came out successful. Thank you to Fidelity, Cedar County Extension and all our wonderful volunteers who helped make this happen!
