TECHNOLOGY

The Tipton School District provides a full range of technology to support learning and instruction.

Students and staff have access to over 1,600 devices, including full-featured desktop and laptop computers, Chromebooks, iPads and Android tablets. Every building is equipped with high-speed wireless internet access and all classrooms include interactive projectors and whiteboards.

Starting with the 2018-2019 school year, the high school implemented a 1:1 initiative by providing a Chromebook to each student for 24/7 technology access. A PC laptop lab helps support our construction and engineering courses and an Online Learning Lab is used to offer credit recovery and advanced courses through Edgenuity.  A full-featured iMac lab supports other disciplines such as business, art, yearbook and special education.

In 2020, the middle school switched from a modified 1:1 model -- providing every student with access to a Chromebook during the day -- to a 24/7 model (allowing students to take their devices home).

The elementary continues to use a modified 1:1 model -- providing a device for each student in kindergarten through 4th grade.  During normal school operation, students leave their devices at school, but are allowed to take them home in the event of an extended absence.  Each elementary classroom is equipped with a 30-unit Chromebook cart so the student's devices can be charged when not in use.

In 2019 TCSD switched to PowerSchool for our Student Information System (SIS) and in 2020 we adopted Schoology as our Learning Management System (LMS).

Each November, the District partners with BrightBytes, an educational research and analytics company to analyze our technology infrastructure and implementation. Students, teachers, administrators, and parents provide very focused feedback to help us determine our strengths with technology and where we can improve.
