Message from the Middle School Principal

Middle School Calendar

Welcome to Tipton Middle School and the 2019-20 School Year!

We are a 5th – 8th Grade Building with a little over 305 students. We have 28 teachers and a great support staff that is committed to making this year one of learning, discovery, and hopefully some fun along the way too.

Middle School is a dynamic time in the lives of our young people. In 5th grade, they enter our building and are fairly reliant on parents and teachers. Those first 2 years they branch out, change classes, and gain few more freedoms and opportunities. By the time they hit 7th and 8th grade they are “old pros”. They also get their first chance to represent our school in athletics and try choir and other clubs and activities. Our hope is that when they leave us they are a resilient bunch. Ready to share their unique strengths and passions with Tipton and the world. Of course, there will be some sidetracks and missteps along the way but we want their years here at TMS to be an unforgettable experience. This year we will be trying to focus on Leadership qualities that are important now and later in life.

Welcome to TMS. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

My email is troy.smock@tipton.k12.ia.us or make an appointment and come by the school.
