This and That...

Fines--There are no fines charged for late books for Preschool-4th graders.  Middle schoolers (Grades 5-8) and High Schoolers are charged $.05/day per items past their due date. Students must not have a fine of more than $.50

All books and magazines are checked out for two weeks.

Overdue notices are sent out automatically by the Library computer system at 12:01am the day after the book was due.  Students actually have a two day brace period before the fines start.  So if they bring the book back before the end of the two day grace period they will owe no fine.  If it is returned on the third day after the due date the fine will be $.15.  Fines increase by $.05/per day, per item.

Printed overdue (or fines owed) notices are sent home with midterm and report card notices.

Storyline Online

The Screen Actors Guild Foundations offers this free service, an online streaming video program of celebrities sharing well known children's books aloud.  A few of the readers include:  Betty White, Tia & Tamera Mowry, Amanda Bynes, Elijah Wood, Jason Alexander-just to name a few.

WE GIVE BOOKS! ..............

is a non-profit agency that supports literacy around the world when users read a book on their site.  It's absolutely free and helps others at the same time!  Users register and select the literacy partner you would like to support. There are four to choose from and you can read a little background information on each one if you would like. (If the literacy partner you have chosen has reached their goal you will be asked to choose a new one.)

Choose a book to read (can choose by age level or specific author, or just browse!) and when you finish that book click "give a book" and you are done!  The titles are popular fiction and nonfiction both.

A great way to read and help at the same time!
