Tipton has a strong history of excellence in speech, with a team comprised of approximately 40 students total. The word "speech" can be misleading as many of the events do not involve giving speeches at all. The speech team is really a competition theatre team that competes on group and individual levels from January to March. Group speech events include choral reading, readers' theatre, radio broadcast, one act, ensemble, group mime, musical theatre, group improvisation, and TV news. Individual events include prose, poetry, radio news, solo mime, individual improvisation, acting, public address, spontaneous speaking, original oratory, expository speaking, review, storytelling, and literary program. In addition, Tipton hosts Individual Districts for a section of the Southeast region. Participation in speech is a great way to make friends, gain confidence, and develop a life-long skill. Come join us to see what all the fun is about!
